In 1990 Pepe Prades decided to establish a brand and bottle the oil that he had been making for himself and his friends.
Prades, who was born in San Mateo and has always held this town dear, had been producing oil as a leisure activity for many years before making this decision, while working professionally as an engineer and economist. So, towards the end of 1991, the first bottles of Mas d’en Guasch Extra Virgin Olive Oil were put on the market. Its dark bottle and label attracted attention and its quality was immediately noticed. The product was first sold in Barcelona and Ibiza, in speciality shops such as Semon and Vila Viniteca, and was used in restaurants such as Jean Luc Figueras, Can Pau and Las Dos Lunas. Slowly, restricted only by its limited production, its network of sales points began to expand. Today its international clientele includes the likes of Hildon (UK) and Wein & Co. (Austria).
